| Camelback Map and Statistics - Phoenix Arizona |
For spring break, my family went down to visit my brother's family in Mesa Arizona. I took the opportunity to get in a short trail run with my sister-in-law Saturday night, and then on Monday morning, Matt and I drove into Phoenix to take on Camelback. The trail actually traverses the mountain and there is a better trailhead on the west side, but we started on the east side.
It's a very popular trail, and as such you have to park about a half mile down the road. The trail is pretty crowded as well, so you will rarely go more than 2 or 3 minutes without passing someone. Despite that, the trail is relatively easy to the saddle, and then the final half mile to the summit is a pretty fun ridge scramble, where plenty of people were crawling with their hands, and look up with a very suprised look when you bound past them along the rocks. It is a fun summit with great views of Mesa and Phoenix.
