31.5 miles

4 weeks prior to the Utah Valley Marathon, we decided to see just how prepared we really are.  We decided to take on a 30 miler that stretched from the waterfall in front of the LDS Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake City to my (Steve's) home in Clearfield.   This included:

1 mile west on North Temple.
6.5 miles North on the Jordan River Parkway till it turned into...
12 miles North on the Legacy Parkway trail.
1 mile west until it met up with...
11 miles on the Western Rio Grande Rail Trail.

We ended up with a grand total of 31.5 miles.  We actually kept a pretty decent pace up until about mile 24, when I ran out of energy.  I walked 1/3 of the remaining distance, for a grand total of about 27.5 miles run and 4 walked.  Sam ran more than that (probably about 29.5 miles), but at a slower pace, which lead us to finish the journey at the same time.  Our total time was around 5.5 hours.
